tPOE (Power Over Ethernet) refers to the existing Ethernet Cat.5 cabling infrastructure don't do any changes, transmit data signals for some based on IP terminal (e.g.,IP telephone, wireless LAN Access Point, webcams, etc.) ,at the same time also provide such equipment with technology of DC Power supply.

t1. The cost savings. Because it only need to install one cable rather than two. In many cases, all need to install where is difficult to deploy AC power supply. With the increase of the device connected to the Ethernet, if do not need to provide the local power supply for equipment, will greatly reduce the deployment cost, and simplify its manageability.

t2. Easy to install and manage. Customers can automatically and safely mixed use original equipment and POE equipment on the network, able to coexist with the existing Ethernet cable.

t3. Safety. POE power supply terminal equipment will only supply for the equipment needed power supply. Only connected to the equipment needed power supply, Ethernet cable voltage will exist, thus eliminating the risk of electric leakage on line.

t4. Easy to manage network equipment.

tIEEE80 2.3 af allows two usage:

t1. Application of the free foot power supply, 4,5 foot connected are the anode, 7,8 feet connected are the cathode.


t2. Application of the data feet power supply, add the DC power supply at the midpoint of the transmission transformer, not affect the data transmission. In this way, line pair 1,2 and line pair 3,6 can be arbitrary polarity.

tThe standard does not allow apply the above two situations at the same time. PSE (power supply equipment) can only provide a kind of usage, but power application equipment PD must be able to adapt to the two cases.
