Product Description
A British Royal Marine Bugler in full dress, playing. At the outset of WWII the US Navy''s battle doctrine closely mirrored Great Britain and Germany, favoring concentrated formations of battleships as the main weapon in offenses. Doctrine had significantly shifted by the end of the war. The development of the aircraft carrier and its devastating utilization by the Japanese against the U.S. at Pearl Harbor shifted U.S. thinking. The Pearl Harbor attack destroyed or took out of action a significant number of U.S. Navy battleships. This placed much of the burden of retaliating against the Japanese on the small number of aircraft carriers, their aircraft and the men flying the planes.
This new W. Britain collection called ''Jack Tars & Leathernecks'' will feature both Marines and Naval personnel from many countries of the world. This collection will have marines, sailors, officers and landing parties.
