Vincent Van Gogh was famous for his paintings of Sunflowers. In the late 1888's in Arles in the south of France he was staying with his friend Paul Gauguin. The sunflowers were originally intended as decorations to adorn Gauguin's room in the "Yellow House" that they were renting, but have now become synonymous with Van Gogh's name. A haughty plant, it is the tallest in the garden. One of the favorite names for this plant is the Italian "Girasole" because the flowers really do turn their heads to follow the sun's daily course.Feature
