The game revolves aroundusing collectible cards featuring various clothes to help aspiringidols pass auditions. An anime adaptation by Sunrise and began airingon TV Tokyo from October 8, 2012.

Synopsis

Theseries takes place at Starlight Academy, a prestigious school with bothmiddle and high branches, where girls train to become idols and takepart in various auditions. such as modeling, singing, and dancing. Toparticipate in these auditions, players use Aikatsu cards, specialcards which contain digitalised dresses and accessories from variousmanufacturers that are used in their auditions. How well they succeedis often dependent on choosing the right combination of cards. Thevideo games cast players in the role of a new student, who must trainto become an idol and reach the top.

The anime series follows a girl named Ichigo Hoshimaya, who becomesinspired by a performance by top idol Mizuki Kanzaki and enrolls inStarlight Academy alongside her best friend, Aoi Kiriya. Along withtheir classmate, Ran Shibuki, Ichigo Hoshimaya and Aoi Kiriya spendeach day training for auditions and aiming to become top idols.
