It is decently made over all, and was one of the few crossbow toys we could find where you could buy extra ammo. After 2 or 3 days the left front bow came out of the plastic slot. It is only glued in, and not well enough to hold. We are going to try and repair it as the crossbow has been a lot of fun for all the men in the house. We are a bit disappointed that it needed repair so quickly as he was very careful with it (since he spent his own savings). However, it seems typical of toys today, they look great on the shelf but are not always put together to last. The darts are made of soft sponge rubber similar to what you would see in women's hair curlers. I realize they are made soft for safety reasons but after just 15-20 minutes of play, little chunks of rubber foam separated from the ends of the darts where the bow string strikes the dart. After several chunks come off, the rear end tip of the dart is no longer circular and doesn't have the proper surface for contact and a straight trajectory. The darts will then fly off the crossbow in unpredictable and wild patterns - like straight up in the air or ten feet wide of the target. It only comes with three darts so it won't be long before the crossbow becomes a useless shooting device. I experimented with cutting the messed up ends straight and then strengthening the rear tip with a flexible soft glue and it improved the life of the darts.
