Ditujukan sebagai flagship atau unggulan di segmen kamera travel zoom, PowerShot SX710 HS diluncurkan oleh pabrikan kamera Canon. Meskipun memiliki bodi yang cukup mungil yaitu dengan dimensi 112.7 x 65.8 x 34.8 mm, Canon PowerShot SX710 HS telah dibekali dengan lensa yang cukup besar. Sesuai dengan segmennya, lensa yang dipakai sangat baik ketika digunakan untuk zoom objek foto. Secara spesifikasi, lensa yang disertakan memiliki jarak focal 25-750 mm pada standar kamera 35mm dengan kemampuan optical zoom sebesar 30x.
Selain dari lensa, kamera ini memiliki spesifikasi lainnya yang sangat baik dan sesuai dengan peruntukannya para pengguna prosumer. Canon PowerShot SX710 HS ini menyertakan sebuah BSI CMOS Sensor dengan ukuran 1/2.3” yang memiliki resolusi 5184 x 3888 atau 20 Megapixel. Selain untuk mengambil foto, kamera ini juga sanggup untuk merekam video dengan resolusi Full HD pada 60fps. Sensor ini mampu untuk mengambil gambar yang sangat jernih baik dari sensitivitas ISO 100 hingga ISO 3200.
Sebagai peningkatan dari seri sebelumnya, kamera ini menyertakan prosesor Digic 6 yang sangat bertenaga. Dengan prosesor yang digunakan, kamera ini memiliki kemampuan burst sebesar 4.5 frame per detik. Untuk kondisi minim cahaya, Canon PowerShot SX710 HS dapat mengakomodir dengan cukup baik karena telah menyertakan system Canon HS. Pada sisi display, Canon PowerShot SX710 HS menyertakan layar LCD sebesar 3 inci dengan kerapatan 922k pixel pada bagian belakang bodinya.
