It shows not only the time in digital format but, has a small digital analog face too. It has allowed my son to be able to recognize analog time in our digital world. Plus being that we have family and friends all over the globe the fact that he can just hit a single button to show him their current time. Add I. That its water resistant/proof and has a backlight, stopwatch and MULTIPLE alarms and hourly notifications (if you want them, you can disable them otherwise). The band isn't quite plastic and isn't quite rubber. It's somewhere in between. My son says he doesn't hardly sweat under it which is good. The band is really sturdy for what a teenage boy puts it through. I will admit, it took a fair amount of time to set up and understand. But for my son and I, it was well worth it. Not to my liking returned this one the following day an exchanged for a Timex Ironman. My reasons for acquiring the Casio was for a 7 walk in Spain, dual time was one feature I liked and also an alarm. The Ironman offered the same and I am very happy I made the switch, you won't need a magnifying glass to read the instructions with the Ironman.
