We all know gel nails cost three times more than a normal manicure, but they also last longer. If you are tired of constantly going to a nail salon just to get your gel nails done, why not purchase a LED lamp from our website, and DIY at home! That will instantly save you the costs of going back and forth to a manicurist every few weeks. You don’t need an uncanny artistic ability to paint your own nails either – Pyxi will share with you several important tips (see Directions), and that’s all you really need!

Directions

Remove any old polish and trim your nails. After the rough edges are smoothed to your desired shape, clean your cuticles using a cuticle pusher. Buff your nails with a cushion file and proceed to soak your nails in warm water for a few minutes. Apply a thin base coat, primer or foundation gel to the nail, and place fingers under LED light for one minute. Then apply thin coat of gel polish and place under light for two minutes. Apply another coat and repeat light for two minutes. Lastly, seal your nails with a thin layer of transparent top coat for two minutes. 

Tip #1: Paint in thin layers to allow the light from the LED lamp to diffuse through the gel. Regular nail varnishes can be applied in thicker layers, but the same theory does not apply for gels.

Tip #2: Leave plenty of time to spare before working through your nails. You don’t want to have a panic attack when you realize you aren’t done with your nails and have to attend to something important! We all make mistakes, so take your time with it.

Tip #3: When placing fingers under LED lamp, the light often doesn’t end up reaching our thumbs, so do it four fingers at a time then thumbs together.

Tip #4: When it comes to time to take them off, gels’ long-lasting effects can backfire. Even so, peeling them off is a big no-no! They are extremely damaging to your nails. Instead, soak a cotton pad into some acetone and wrap it with tin foil. Leave this on for 15-20 minutes, and it should come off nicely.
