Initially I wore it under lipstick. It kept my lips moist and kept the lipstick on longer. I eventually developed an allergy to lipsticks (in general, all brands). So I continued to use Vaseline Lip Therapy--only. It still keeps my lips moist. What's funny is the number of compliments I get on my "shade of lipstick". People are quite surprised when I tell them it's just clear Vaseline Lip Therapy. Wal-Mart has it at a great price. When I find it stocked, I usually buy at least a 1/2 dozen or so. And it now is available in Cherry flavor! Several slight cautions: -Clean the applicator frequently; some residue is left behind and will attract dust, etc if not wiped off. - If you don't use it frequently enough and keep it for an extended period, it seems to develop an odor (from bacteria?) - As with many tubes, it seems impossible to get all of it out of the tube. So I find myself discarding it when I am no longer able to apply it. Sometimes I use it to remove water proof mascara-gently. There's a very small container of lip therapy (only) it looks like a mini container of Vaseline. Its a tremendous product for bed time but a bit too thick for day. Re applying this version of lip therapy might be messy and obvious. Unless you're ice skating or sunning and trade lipstick for lip therapy. Vaseline Advanced Formula Skin Protectant Lip therapy is the grab and go solution to bringing a tub of vaseline to the beach--or anywhere.This is a pleasant and very well formulated product. Vaseline light maybe? Light in application and ease of use but staying power and no particular scent that can be drying. It goes on clear so it doesn't have that milk 'stash' look that some of the older yellow products had. There is nothing negative about this product. It may not be in a fanciful tube with a wand of rainbow colors but it's true to the description--and that's a lot.
