How to Know if It's Truly Pashmina By burning the fibre of your pashmina, you'll know the quality of you your pashmina. Get a small portion or even a fringe of the supposed pashmina fabric, light it, and wait for it to burn. Then you smell and touch it. *Pure cashmere will burn slowly and shrinks or curls away from the flame and smells like burnt hair. *Synthetics like nylon, polyester or acrylic will burn quickly and can also continue to burn after a flame is removed. Burning these fabrics will produce black smoke and also smell more like plastic. Of course, we don't endorse doing this to your favourite cashmere. Needless to say, kids, please do not try this at home.
