There is a large hammered pattern to dish pattern that gives it a hand-sculpted look. This pattern is slight and may be overlooked in the pictures. The Agave Blue is a dark gray blue, a darker version of a French blue. (The picture has a light background which makes the blue look a bit lighter than in person.) The bowls are a good size cereal/soup bowl, holding 20 oz. of fluid to the rim. The cups hold 12 oz. of fluid to the rim. They look nice, they're heavy, and they feel durable. In the 7 months since we've had them, 2 mugs have shattered and one has chipped, 2 bowls are chipped and one shattered, almost every salad plate is chipped, and several of the dinner plates are chipped. No warranty on the dishes at all. Not at all worth what I paid. My previous stoneware lasted 5 years before it looked this beat up. I've had stoneware as my main dishes for over 10 years. Seems very sturdy. I do wish the bowls were a little bigger but overall, very happy with this purchase. I got this in the 32 piece set with optional serving platter/bowl along with another 16pc set. I went with the agave blue and the mushroom brown. Looks very good together.
