Product Description
This brush is best suitable for:
short, smooth coats (Retrievers, Hounds, Chihuahuas, etc); short, wiry coats (Terriers, etc.); thin, delicate coats (Yorkies, Maltese, etc); and medium, flowing coats (Golden Retrievers, Spaniels, Setters, etc.).
Though many customers told us it also works great for harsh, outer coats with soft, wooly undercoats (Sheepdogs, Collies, Shepherds, Chows, etc.) we do recommend finding a firmer bristle brush, as our brush, due to being made with genuine boar bristle, has medium stiffness.
Best Way To Brush Your Pet:
Brush down and out, away from the dog's and cat's skin. Always brush in the direction the coat grows; dogs and cats don't like to be brushed against their coat.
Be gentle or you may damage your pet's coat by pulling and stretching hairs until they tangle and break. Take the time to untangle any snarls just as you would if your comb got stuck in your child's hair (or your own!)
If you encounter mats, apply a coat conditioner or mat spray and leave it on for several minutes. Then use a wide-toothed comb or a mat-splitting tool to get through the tangle. Mats can get close to a dog's and cat's skin and removing them can be painful, so proceed carefully.
Frequency Of Brushing:
You should brush your dog and cat every couple of days no matter the length of the coat. Sometimes your brushing can have a specific purpose, such as removing hair mats or helping them shed their seasonal coat, but most often you'll just be doing a general purpose brushing or combing.
