The projector is made of a durable high quality plastic, which is great if you plan on taking it places. It folds open when you want to use the projector feature. It is neon green too, which makes it easier to spot in an area with a lot of stuff. There are some small pieces so not recommended for real young children that may put pieces in their mouth.
