Reportedly this is the largest white marble temple in the world. Enshrined here is one of Thailand most revered gold Buddha image in a form of meditation posture known among Thais and foreigner as “Luang Pho (venerable father) Sothon.
There are some very rare amulets priced up to $ 12,000,000 USD and chances are that you will get a “fake” piece even if you pay USD1,000,000.00. According to legend, LP Sothon was found floating down the Bang Pakong River from the old capital city of Thailand called Ayutthaya . The capital city was annihilated by a Burmese invasion in 2310. It was described by foreign traders as one of the biggest and wealthiest cities in the East. Many believe the gold statue was crafted for a wealthy family during this period and was hidden in the river from the invader. Miraculously this statue travel 100 of miles downstream and ended its journey at the site of a temple in Chachoengsao as we see it today.
