Troubleshooting steps:
If filter element is installed incorrectly, lid will not close. This might cause lid breakage. The assembly of the dirt basket requires some intuition as the filter seals by tongue and groove, the tongue being on the filter and the groove being in the basket. This causes problems as the groove is facing down and it will collect dirt. This dirt will eventually fill the groove, causing interference with the dirt basket lid and making it difficult to close. This could also be the reason for the failures. However, in this scenario, the instructions show the entire basket being cleaned in soapy water which should remove this dirt.
