 The Pixiu is also known as the Tianlu or Bixie.  It is a magical beast in ancient Chinese mythology with a dragon’s head, a horse’s body, a Qilin’s feet, and the overall body shape of a lion.  Its fur is greyish-white, and it can fly.  The Pixiu is a fierce fighter, scares off bad spirits and feed on money/ gold.  It patrols the heavens and preventing demons and diseases from causing chaos.  It is said that the Pixiu is the 9th son of the Dragon.

Legend says that the Pixiu broke the rules of Heaven and it was punished by the Jade Emperor.  It has its anus sealed up and it has to feed on gold.  Its ability to attract wealth without letting it escape is considered auspicious to many Chinese.
