How do I use my Sunbaby Cloth Diapers?

Put the insert in your diaper. Hold the insert in one hand and place inside the slot. Align the front edge of the insert with the top edge of the snap strip.
Using one hand to hold the front of the insert in place, stretch the diaper and smooth the insert flat as you pull your other hand out of the diaper.
We suggest changing as often as every 3-4 hours and adding more inserts to the pocket during nap and night time.
Adjust the diaper sizing by choosing the right snap setting on the front of the diaper. Your diaper arrives snapped down to the "large" setting; fully unsnap the front of the diaper. To use the "medium" setting, snap on the second row of snaps. To use the diaper on the "small" or "extra small" setting, snap on the bottom row of snaps.

How many sizes are availabe?

There are 2 sizes that is produced by the manufacture but only size 2 is available currently. Size 1 is for smaller/skinny babies and size 2 is for bigger/chunky babies.

What is the different between the inserts?

We have 3 options of the diaper’s insert; Microfiber, Bamboo, Blend.

Microfiber is fast drying, absorbs liquid quickly. Microfiber insert is only 3 layers of microfiber fabric

Bamboo is slower drying but holds more liquid it is however slower to absorb (not really a problem in young babies). Bamboo insert is only 3 layers of bamboo fabric

Blend is the best option, because it is a combination of 2 layers bamboo and 2 layers microfiber

Which detergent should I use?

You don't HAVE to use a Cloth Diaper specific detergent but you do need to use a cloth diaper friendly detergent. It's best to stay away from detergents with dyes, perfumes, fabric softeners, enzymes and optical brighteners.
Remember it's all about trial and error. What works for one might not work for someone else. And it'll also depend on what type of water you have too.
Here is a list of the most common detergent brands: Tide Original Powder, Rockin Green, Eco's free & clear, Planet, All Free & Clear, Charlie's, Soap Nuts, Crunchy Clean, and Country Save. What is available to you may vary by location. Many are available online through Amazon.
For those with hard water, it is recommended that you also add a water softener, like Calgon.

How do I prepare my diapers?

It's best to wash at least one time when you receive new diapers. You need to remove the oils and dirt from manufacturing and natural oils from the fabric. If you don't, you will end up with leaking and repelling. It's best to wash 2-3 times to make sure it's all out and the diaper and insert are at full absorbency.
Normally you do not want to dry your diapers on high heat because it reduces the life of the elastic as well as creates the possibility for the PUL to melt or de-laminate. But when you first get your diapers you do want to put them in the dryer for 20-30 minutes on high heat (after washing) so that the holes from manufacturing/stitching are sealed into the PUL. This reduces the chance of liquid coming out through those holes. You may need to do this once every few months to reseal the PUL.
If you have purchased bamboo inserts you will want to boil the inserts only for about 20-30 minutes in a large stock pot. Then wash and dry as normal for maximum absorbency.

What kind of wash routine should I use?

Remember that what works for one may not work for another. It's all about trial and error and what works best for you. Many suggest doing a cold rinse, then a hot normal cycle with detergent, and then a warm rinse. It is also common to hear some doing one normal cycle with detergent, and one normal cycle without detergent. Whatever you choose to do, make sure to rinse very well. Detergent build up left from not rinsing well can cause repelling and stinks.

Can I dryer dry my diapers?

It is suggested to line dry your diapers as the heat from the dryer can cause damage to the PUL and elastic over time. It is recommended to do one hot dry cycle for 20 minutes originally to seal the PUL from the stitching when manufactured. But after that has been done it's best to line dry or tumble dry with no heat.
