The Rubbermaid Y32R mechanical portion control scale has a rotating dial and is suitable for food service, industrial, or office environments. Its anodized aluminum body will not corrode or flex, and the stainless steel platform and bezel are corrosion resistant, easy to clean, and sanitary. Its dial rotates for quick taring, and it has an alignment notch for a precise zero reset. The dial shows weights in increments of 1/4 oz., up to a maximum capacity of 32 oz. The scale measures 8-5/8 x 6-1/2 x 6-5/8 inches/21.9 x 16.5 x 16.8 cm (H x L x W). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; L is length, the horizontal distance from left to right; W is width, the horizontal distance from front to back.) It is certified to National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) standards for food safety.
Food service scales are used to weigh food portions or inventory in a commercial kitchen environment. Three common types of scales are hanging, portion control, and receiving. Hanging scales have hooks that items are hung from to be weighed. Portion control scales have platforms that ingredients or food portions are placed upon to weigh. Receiving scales check the accuracy of inbound inventory to verify that the ordered weight matches the received weight. The scales can be mechanical with dials or electronic with digital displays. They are commonly made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or some combination thereof.
