The inner surface of this lovely tea bowl features crimson glazing while from outside it is covered with contrasting glaze. The shallow cup with wide mouth is a perfect choice for summer tea drinking as it allows the beverage to cool rapidly. The vessel is designed to fit snugly into the palm of the hand. At the same time its well-balanced shape and a steady foot let you safely put the teacup on the table. The tea bowl was manufactured in Henan province famous for its ancient traditions of pottery. Tea is a wonderful beverage which is enjoyed all through the world and there are a lot of ceremonies in all parts of Asia for drinking and preparing the tea. This lovely tradition came to us from China where the tea was first used as a medicine. According to the legend, one of the ruler in the ancient China was looking for medical cures and got poisoned. And a drop of water from the tea tree saved him. So it is only prudent and just that Asian and especially Chinese ceramics and porcelain teaware is considered to be the first choice when it comes to taking a break from the mundane to drink a cup of Oolong or Rooibos.
