
| History: Monarch butterflies belong to the Royal Butterfly. The wings are distinct reddish brown and the veins are black. The edge has two lines of dot pattern. In North America, in the fall, thousands of monarch butterflies travel back south to Mexico or California for breeding, sometimes in the winter, and then spring back. Monarch butterfly lays eggs on its way back and dies. The born butterflies move north again.
