Glycolic acid is the most active and beneficial of the alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) in skin care and is made from sugar cane. It is the only AHA which is able to penetrate through the cell walls, it will triggers new formation of collagen and plump up the cells to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Glycolic acid also gives the skin a much smoother look and feel. Glycolic acid is a rapid exfoliant. It dissolves the fatty molecules that keep the dead, dry skin cells on the surface of the skin leaving only the new, radiant skin behind.
