While we strongly encourage parents to put their babies to sleep on their backs in accordance with CPSC recommendations, this breathable surface adds an additional layer of safety should the baby turn face-down into a compromised sleep position. It also dissipates heat and moisture for a more comfortable sleep. The mattress can be used with or without the breathable cover. This means you always have a mattress for your baby while the cover is in the wash. The mattress features a luxurious organic cotton fabric with a patented waterproof coating that's easy-to-clean and meets food contact standards. It protects the inside of the mattress from urine, spills, spit-up and allergens for a more hygienic design.
