Sugarcane shrimp paste skewers (Chao Tom) is a classic Vietnamese appetizer. The Sugarcane contributes to the flavour of the shrimp paste during cooking. And after eating the shrimp paste off the sugarcane skewer, you can chew on the sugarcane for some sugarcane juice!
The seasoned shrimp paste is wrapped around a stick of sugarcane, steamed and individually frozen. Just deep fry or grill and serve or impress your party guest by making it into a wrap.
