About this item: Featuring the cherished tradition of batik hand block printing, Indian artisans Krishna and Sharda create a pattern resembling leaves and vines on this 100% cotton shawl. Using the resist-dyeing technique, golden brown and white leaves and vines are contrasted against alternating goldenrod yellow and white stripes. The leaves and vines mark the entire length of this shawl, giving it an impression of dense foliage.

About our Artist: 'We are Krishna and Sharda, and we teamed up because we love crafts. We both hold diplomas in fashion design. We became involved in block printing, batik and weaving fabrics in natural fibers, which are all part of India's cultural heritage. To support the movement to promote local artisans, we work together creating crafts with the theme 'tradition meets contemporary style.' We create traditional crafts with contemporary designs. It is our dream to see our artisan community grow and thrive so they can earn a comfortable and sustainable living. We've learned directly from the artisans by visiting their workshops and we incorporate their ideas into our designs. We use cotton and silk, which we print with wooden blocks and batik.'...
