3-in-1 hides® retainer

The original company, SunCepts, was formed in California in February of 2000 to globally market the newly invented, and patented, line of multifunction eyewear necessities that was then known by the registered brand name hides® and consisted of the Classic. The hides® "3-in-1" description describes the Classic's three combined eyewear traits: an eyeglass retainer (a/k/a cord, strap, leash) with a protective case and a soft cleaning cloth, all in one product.

How to use  hides®

The concept of the hides® retainer is, and always has been, to provide the most versitile and convenient eyeglass retainer with the ability to retain glasses, cover and protect them when being stored, and clean the lenses.  After hides® are inserted on your eyeglass arms, you can adjust the fit by moving the arms of the retainer up and down the arms of your glasses.  After taking your glasses off, flip the case section around and to the front of your glasses, then manipulate the case so that it covers the lenses.  When done correctly the case will stay on until removed.

hides® Construction and Cleaning

All retainer arms and cases (except for the case on the H2O and H2O Shorties) are made with lens safe mirofiber and are machine washable. So, when your retainer becomes dirty - remove it from your glasses and throw it in the wash, or wash it with dish soap in the sink.  Once dried, it will be as good as new.

The ultimate in Multifunctional Eyewear Accessories just got better! The hides®TechnoSkin provides the same basic essentials of the hides® Classic 3-in-1 (strap, case and eyeglass cleaner) eyewear accessory but also includes our exclusive and patented Detachable Strap feature along with the added benefit of our Impact Expansion Joint ("IEJ") technology.

The Detachable Strap feature allows you to detach the case and eyeglass cleaner from the strap. In this configuration the strap portion can be clipped to itself and adjusted to become tight fitting during more mobile and physical activities. The IEJ, acting like a shock absorber on a car, ensures additional security should a high impact situation occur. The last thing you want while hanging upside down in an inverted crawl is your expensive sunglasses falling down the side of the rock cliff.

The detached case and cleaner section can then be used to protect/cover/clean a watch, as a sweat band, to form a fashion coordinated ponytail, protect another pair of sunglasses or as a low stress tie down.

The H2O is essentially a floating Technoskin with all of the Technoskin's creative, and patented, conversion capabilities. Like the Technoskin, the H2O is 22 inches long (If you prefer a shorter cord length, consider the H2O Shorties) and includes our exclusive and patented Detachable Strap feature along with the added benefit of our Impact Expansion Joint ("IEJ") technology The Detachable Strap feature allows you to detach the H2O's neoprene case from the strap. In this configuration the strap can be clipped to itself and adjusted to become tight fitting during more mobile and physical activities. The IEJ, acting like a shock absorber on a car, ensures additional security should a high impact situation occur. When the case is removed it also provides security when the retainer is used in extreme sport, high endurance activities, racing and where loss of expensive sunglasses in the water may occur.

The only shortfall? While the high grade neoprene case offers excellent flotation in either the attached, or detached configurations, it does not match the superior lens cleaning characteristics of the microfiber featured in all the cases/cleaners that are standard with other hides™ models.

hides® "Shorties" H2O provides a shorter arm length (13 inches) than the regular H2O Retainer (22 inches). It is designed for people who prefer the superior hides® eyeglass strap for water sports but enjoy a shortened fit. Useful for water applications where the possibility exists of losing expensive eyewear in the water (such as surfing, fishing, playing in the surf at the beach and hanging out at the pool).  The shortened length reduces the overall retainer weight, provides the ability to adjust the retainer for an extremely  tight fit when the glasses are on, and keeps the glasses close to the body when lowered. The hides® H2O Shorties are designed to secure eyewear during extreme water sport, highly physical activities and areas that involve a risk of loss of your expensive eyewear in the water.
