I was able to use it for 9 night trip to Alaska with high heels inside and hiking boots, as well as all my toiletries (high maintenance woman here!).This piece lasted me maybe 4 trips since owning it. I was able to take it as a carry on with all the airlines I went on (American, Jet Blue, United, and Delta) even though it doesn't meet the dimension requirements. It died before I could make the 5th trip in Alaska =( I was boarding a tour bus and the driver couldn't get the bars down. This was ideal since it is on wheels. It rolled smoothly through airport, airtran, and parking lot. The height is idea for child and adult. It also fits the carry on size and it was fairly packed. Though I did have to prove it to TSA. Once the air escaped, it fit. I wouldn't recommend putting anything heavier than clothes as the seams are already pulling.
