Pharmacological Actions:

Neem (Azadirachta indica)
It is one of the famous phytomedicine, especially in India and Myanmar that has antifungal, antiscabies, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory actions. Azadiradione, a tetranotriterpenoid, is effective against superficial fungal skin infection like tinea infection and scabies. Mahmoodin, a new limonoid compound, has significant antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas and Klebsiella by inhibition of cell membrane synthesis. Anti-inflammatory action is mediated by the water soluble part of ethanolic extract.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa)
Curcumin, the active principle of Tumeric, has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial actions. Curcumin when applied to the skin and exposed to sunlight, the healing rate is increased. Turmeric is useful in treating a number of conditions, including eczema, psoriasis and fungal infections such as athlete's foot.

Propolis (Bee glue)
Flavonoids in Propolis have strong antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a potent natural bactericidal and viricidal agent. It can lower the degree of inflammation and promote healing. If used in burns and scald, there can be less chance of blister formation and ugly scar.

Aloe vera
Aloe vera extract contains aloe-emodin as active constituent. It has action of antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It is remarkably effective in wounds, speeding up the rate of healing and reducing the risk of infection. It enhances skin regeneration.

 

Indications:

Antifungal, antibacterial, antiscabies and eczema

Dosage:

The cream should be applied directly to the affected area three times daily until healing is complete. The duration of treatment is usually one week in case of skin abrasion, and bacterial skin infection. It should be 6-8 weeks in case of tinea infection to eradicate the fungi in all skin layers and 8-12 weeks for eczema.
