2. The cartridge should be replaced after four weeks - when LCD bars empty.
3. If you see the black particles in the filtered water, they are parts of one of BRITA's filter media, the activated carbon. The granulated activated carbon is made of coconut shells. Like each natural product, coconut shells are subject to natural variances regarding product quality. This can lead to abrasion of parts of the carbon into your filtered water. To eradicate any carbon dust which may be present, preparation of your cartridge is crucial.
4. Please prepare your cartridge by vigorously shaking the MAXTRA Cartridges under water, then install and flush through with two liters of water, then press and hold the start button till the LCD show full bar.
5. Please repeat steps 4 upon changing your cartridge.
