BenefitsRose water used in Mantra is obtained from the petals of Rosa centifolia - the hundred-leaved rose. Rose water is acidic (pH below 7) and contains a complex mixture of essential oils composed of over 100 different substances, the most abundant of which is phenyl ethanol. Other include monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, phenolic acids and their esters, as well as aldehydes. Rose oil has a strong smell, which makes rose water very fragrant. It also contains a group of flavonoids calledanthocyanosides, which are natural, water soluble red/pink/purple pigments found in rose flowers and fruits. Other ingredients include trace amounts of water soluble tannins, mainly gallic acid and its derivatives, as well as valuable active ingredients such as amino acids. Tannin forms a delicate film on the surface of skin and works as astringent, regulating sebum making skin look fresh.
