Definition of water baby:  
Little marbles said to be (gelatin) polymers that absorb water to reach 400 times their initial volume and can serve as artificial "soil" for pot plants or flower arrangements. These are polymers of acrylic acid. The same chemistry is used in super absorber baby diapers, etc.
