Kaimai Gold Manuka Honey UMF20+ is registered and has been tested and certified to have a high level of antibacterial activity, (a UMF of above 20). Unique Manuka Factor - UMF, represents the level of antibacterial activity of the honey against certain pathogenic bacteria, and has been shown to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus, common in infected wounds, and Streptococus pyogenes which may be associated with sore throats. It may also help provide relief from indigestion and support the healing of stomach ulcers. Used externally, it promotes wound healing and may be beneficial in the healing of skin ulcers.

UMF activity in Manuka honey is due partly to the formation of hydrogen peroxide, and also due to the phytochemicals contained in this special honey. It remains very stable during storage, and is not broken down by heat or light. It also retains its activity in the body as it is resistant to body enzymes, thus enabling it to reach affected tissues to help with healing.
