WHO YOU WILL HELP

Chelsea
Beneficiary from the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore School (CPASS)

“When Chelsea was one year old, my whole world came crashing down. Chelsea was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and speech delay. She will never be able to walk and play, like other children.

Despite the difficulties, my little girl did not give up and that gave me the strength to do what is right for her. I enrolled her in the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, a social service programme supported in part by Community Chest.

In the past 4 years, Chelsea taught me to focus on her abilities and not her disability. Her efforts, my belief and your help have changed my girl’s life! She can now walk with the help of the special Kaye Walker and string together simple phrases.

I am encouraged. I hope Chelsea can go to a mainstream school and walk on her own one day. I will not give up my hope and efforts.”
- Mrs Lim Suguan
  Mother of 4-year-old Chelsea

About Community Chest

Community Chest raises funds on a yearly basis to meet the needs of the social service programmes we help support. Community Chest ensures that fund-raising and other operating costs are kept to a minimum. As these costs are covered mainly by Tote Board and Singapore Pools, every dollar raised by Community Chest will be made available to social service programmes under our care.

About the Care & Share Movement

Under the Care & Share Movement, donations will be matched $1- to- $1 by the Government from now till 31 December 2014. Care & Share is a national fund-raising and volunteerism movement led by Community Chest for the social service sector, as Singapore approaches its 50th year of independence in 2015. It aims to bring our nation together to show care and concern for the needy and recognise the contributions made by voluntary welfare organisations. The matched amount will go towards building the capabilities and capacities of the social service sector to meet rising needs.
