Product Description

The AV 4048 Flyboy "Tuck" automatic pays a small tribute to one Robert Stanford Tuck. Tuck's colourful background and heroism paints him as one of the RAFs most famous wartime pilots. He served in the Battle of France and in the Battle of Britain and his rise from school dropout to WW2 flying ace typifies the roguish spirit of young men who became famous as Flyboys. The AV-4048 takes its shape from the clear cut Flyboy family of pilot watches. A scratch resistant slightly domed sapphire lens set on the 42mm diameter marine grade stainless steel case distinguishes the Tuck slightly from the rest of the Flyboy range. Underneath the dial, a hardworking Miyota Automatic Self-winding 24 jewel 8247 movement helps indicate time, 24 hr display and also powers a subdial seconds hand. Visible through the exhibition Roundel marked see through case back - the rotor of the movement displays the Flyboy subbrand and in fitting, if subtle tribute - the initials of Robert Stanford Tuck (RST) To accommodate the extra readouts, the hour and minute hands have been skeletonized but are no less pronounced for fuss-free legibility. Subtle cockpit inspired cues are evident on the Flyboy but are restrained to ensure that the timepiece is still clean and succinct in overall look and feel. A fine grain texture on the dial adds extra contrast to the Arabic hour markers which are rich with Superluminova material for legibility in low light conditions. The Tuck Flyboy straps to the wearers wrist with a premium leather Nato for a look that rugged yet no less luxurious and comfortable.
