It also has an antispasmodic action on the smooth muscles of the body such as the muscles of the gastro-intestinal system, those of the respiratory tracts, and those of the uterus which contractility is reduced.<br /><br />Fennel is thus indicated in case of digestive spasms, but also painful mentrual periods and cough.
