The red button has 3 positions. The middle position is OFF. A forward click of the red button turns the steamer on High. a downward click turns it on Low. High is best for steaming the wrinkles out of garments, or for steam-cleaning to rid an area of bacteria or odors. Low can possibly be used to steam your face, as part of a facial treatment.
