Li Shan is synonymous with premium quality high mountain Oolongs. With an elevation above sea level at around 2400 to 2600 meters high, Li Shan began it's tea planting culture in 1970s, and eventually became one of the highest tea growing regions in the world, apart from Da Yu Ling
Due to the freezing environment of Li Shan, the temperature between day and night is really extreme, which hardens the tea plants and boosts the levels aroma, taste and complexity in the teas. During spring and summer these mountains are regularly shrouded in fog and mist, interspersed with periods of bright sun and cobalt blue skies. As a result of this unique high mountain micro-climate this is arguably the best region in Taiwan for growing complex and aromatic Oolongs.
