She is a very intelligent child and has been ‘playing’ with this set constantly since she got it. The parts are small, but the color coding and hidden science has kept her interested. This set is designed for children in middle school, but she has had no difficulties building them. The parts are small and there are many of them. The packaging includes a clear plastic bin to keep everything in so keeping it all together has not been a problem at all. Her parents are highly educated and are so excited with this gift because their little girl can engage her intelligence and curiosity. The bin allows her to play, build and leave in place her ‘projects’ until she can get to them, without making a mess in the living room. She is able to carry her ‘projects’ from the living room to her bedroom with ease and a little help from Dad. Definitely recommend this as a gift for extra precocious children or even better, something to keep them busy in that long very long month before Christmas. Why didn't we have these as a kid? I would have probably liked Math and Geometry a whole lot more! Was this review helpful?Yes (0)No (0)ReportAnother Aid in the Math Battle11/21/2014Average rating:4out of5stars, based onreviews11/21/2014by 2allbkind ?Spark reviewer - received free productI have a grandson in the 5th grade and I spend (Volunteer) 4-1/2 hrs per week in the classroom. The math they had in 4th grade is foundational for 5th grade and so forth. The teacher has a good supply of "manipulatives" to visually assist students in understanding concepts by visualization. When I saw this, I knew it would be a big help to that 5th grade classroom. It was indeed. This set adheres to national Core standards and is designed for teamwork, which I note in my grandson's classroom is highly stressed. Teamwork puts everybody in the loop and makes everyone buy-in to learning. Since this class is used to using manipulatives, they were up-to-speed in no time on how these pieces could enhance and increase their knowledge of math concepts. The pieces are sturdy, bright, strong. They encourage, investigation, discussion and evaluation of math concepts being taught in their classroom. This is not the first manipulative that this 5th grade class has used--they have several brands available to them--but based on observation, it is by far the most funWas this review helpful?Yes (0)No (0)ReportRead all reviews
