Wood Materials

Sapele

Sapele is a little heavier and a good alternative to Honduran Mahogany but finer textured. It is a fine guitar wood due to its properties, ease of working, and stability. Sapele’s tonal output is consistent and balanced across the tonal spectrum, making it compatible with a diverse range of playing styles. It’s comparable to mahogany but its higher density tends to produce a slightly brighter sound with more top-end shimmer.

Spruce
It is still plentiful and the trees are huge, it is still possible to get wonderful Spruce. It makes a very strong, loud guitar which has a balanced resonant sound with good sustain. With a very wide dynamic range. Spruce shows a very strong tendency to improve with age, perhaps more than other woods.

Rosewood
This wood has a beautiful rich variety of brown and purple colours. It makes a warm rich sounding guitar with great resonance and volume. It has a noticeably purple color and the grain markings are coarser. Making a solid guitar out of Rosewood would be too heavy and/or cost prohibitive in most cases. This is because the wood is rare and expensive. Rosewood is a very hard wood, it's porous nature gives it a warmer tone in general. Rosewood is a very hard and dense wood with great clarity and articulation in tone. Very smooth feeling.

Zebrawood
Zebrawood is a softer hardwood, It creates a very nice full sound with darker overtones. It has a bit of a peak in the midrange, and a nice treble. Zebrawood is suitable for most styles of music. This wood Well defined basses and trebles, good volume and excellent distribution of voices, similar to maple but with less resonance but some dark overtones. But mostly, the sound and bring out the best tonal qualities of the wood. Zebrawood double tops make for terrific guitars at very reasonable prices. You will find yourself looking at the instrument for hours at a time such is the beauty of the grain and patterns created by these.

Acacia
Acacia is heavier and more dense than Mahogany, and thus has it’s own unique tonal projection. It makes a better sounding guitar. And of course a beauty all it’s own. Most people are familiar with the sound of Acacia woods, having owned or played instruments made of Hawaiian Koa. The Acacia that uses for instruments is similar in appearance to what was known to old timers in Hawaii as "black Koa.” Acacis has beautiful black and brown figured grain patterns.
