In the late 1800s, Samuel O▽Reilly invented tattoo machine, which has been relatively unchanged since that. The autographic printer, an engraving machine which was invented by Thomas Edison to engrave hard surfaces is the basement for O▽Reilly▽s design. Edison▽s machine was changed by O▽Reilly through modifying the tube system and its rotary-driven electromagnetic oscillating to enable the machine to drive the needle.

As we know, we usually see the ink through the epidermis, or the outer layer of skin from a person▽s tattoo. However, the ink actually exists in the second layer of the skin called dermis. Then why the tattoo▽s ink can keep in place steadily for a person▽s lifetime with minor fading and dispersion? In fact, cells of the dermis are much more stable than cells of the epidermis.

Outlining: The artist creates a permanent line over the stencil with a single-tipped needle and a thin ink. Most people start at the bottom of the right side and create it carefully and elaborately (lefties usually start from the left side), so they won▽t smear the stencil when wiping away excess ink from the fixed line.
Shading: After cleaning the area, the artist begins to work up an even, solider line with a thicker ink and various needles. But shadowed lines, unbearable pain and long-delayed healing can be caused by improper technique or practice.
Color: After cleaning the tattoo, the artist starts to overlaps each line of color to ensure its permanent solidness and uneven areas where color has faded during healing or where the artist missed a section of skin.
Final cleaning and bandaging: Once finished removing all blood and plasma with a disposable sterile towel, the artist will cover the tattoo with a sterile bandage. It is usually bleeding more or less during tattooing, but don▽t worry, most can stop within a few minutes.

• Please confirm the instrument and supplies of tattoo shop are sterile. The tattoo artist should wear disposable gloves. It is advised to use the needles and machines made of stainless steel.
• Please learn about the quality of tattoo pigments. Liquid plant pigments soaked in alcohol are used in modern tattooing instead of dyes and inks. The plant pigments extracted from natural plants can reduce infections after penetration into the skin.
• How to protect yourself. Epinephrine can be used to clean the tattoo and stop bleeding in the tattooing process. To reduce infections and even skin rot after the tattoo is done, you have to clean the wound with warm water and keep it dry for one week.
• Animal blood or vermilion can´t be used in tattoos, and pigeon blood mixed vermilion may endanger your life
• Alcohol or gentian violet liquid can´t be used to handle the wound (alcohol to irritate the wound, and gentian violet liquid to ruin the image)
• Special tattoo cream or Vaseline should be used after tattoo is done. Clean the cream and blood with warm water in 2-3 hours, and dry it with absorbent cotton or special towel. No other medicines needed later
• It is normal to involve with itching, scabbing, and peeling. In case infection and color fading, it is advised not to scrap the wound. Wear soft and loose underwear.
• Don´t go to saunas and swimming pool during the aftercare time.
• Please consult your artist or go to hospital promptly if the signs and symptoms appear, such as high fever, non-healing problem, the wound becoming festering and purulent, etc.
