Young Living community of wellness started small in 1993, when Gary Young developed his first organic herb farming and distillation operation. At the time, Gary had already discovered the incredible power of essential oils, but because the quality of available oils varied so greatly, he’d been unable to fully harness their potential. While he knew that pure essential oils had the ability to produce spectacular results, he found that the chemically altered or adulterated oils on the market were often ineffective and even harmful.

Young Living changed all that. As Gary developed more farmland in Utah and Idaho, he began cultivating lavender, peppermint, melissa, clary sage, and many other herbs. Fueled by a growing demand for pure essential oils, Young Living designed and built the largest, most technologically advanced distillery for the production of essential oils in North America. At the same time, the company also developed the groundbreaking Young Living standard, which preserves the integrity and potency of natural essential oils.

SEED

Powerful, effective essential oils come from seeds and plants that are verified for their essential oil potential by Young Living experts, partnering with university experts. 

CULTIVATE

Young Living farms, located around the globe, are dedicated to perfecting the best growing and harvesting methods. Young Living experts also travel the world visiting their co-op farms to verify that their growing and cultivating processes match Young Living high standards. These operations provide an ongoing source for essential oils that meet Young Living’s demanding quality standards.

DISTILL

Combining ancient and modern techniques, Young Living is recognized as an innovator in essential oil distillation. Young Living use a gentle, proprietary technique for steam extracting the most effective essential oils, as well as using cold pressing and resin tapping methods for select oils.

TEST

Young Living never accepts diluted, cut, or adulterated oils. To guarantee consistent quality, Young Living oils are tested in their own internal labs, as well as in third-party facilities, to ensure that they meet stringent specifications, exceed international standards, and contain the optimal levels of natural bioactive compounds.

SEAL

Young Living completes the Seed to Seal process in its 107,000-square-foot facility in Spanish Fork, Utah. Using state-of-the-art equipment, each essential oil is carefully bottled into protective amber glass bottles—ready to be shipped to members worldwide.
