This is a beautiful pendant of the Thousand Arms Guan Yin - the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion (千手观音菩萨) / Senju Kannon / Chenrezig / Avalokiteshvara. It is nicely craved from Black Obsidian Crystal (黑耀石) that has emotional healing and protection powers. The Goddess is displayed seated with her many pairs of arms in various gestures of blessings. The thousand arms serve to scatter blessings and comfort in all directions simultaneously, alleviating the sufferings of mankind with infinite expressions of her mercy and compassion. This Goddess is the guardian protector for those people borne in the year of Rat.

History Background

Kannon is the embodiment of all the Buddhas’ compassion, appearing in a female form in the Chinese / Japanese Mahayana Buddhist traditions, and as a male in the Indian / Tibetan traditions. Kannon is more commonly known as Kuan Yin in Chinese, Chenrezig in Tibetan and Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit. Kannon’s practice is among the most popular in all Buddhist countries and she/he is often propitiated for blessings and protection. The 1000-armed form of Kannon is depicted with 1000 eyes on every hand, which are all-seeing, gazing upon all sentient beings and coming to their aid to relieve their sufferings. It is believed that in doing Kannon’s practice sincerely; we can develop great patience, peace and compassion.

Black Obsidian Properties

Obsidian is formed when volcanic lava comes into contact with water. Thereafter it was forced to cool so quickly that it doesn’t have time to crystallize resulting in a stone with a shiny, glassy texture. Black Obsidian is an extremely powerful, fast acting and protective stone. It is said to form a shield against negativity and to absorb negative energies from the environment. Because of this, it should be cleansed regularly in running water to remove the negative energies. In healing aspect, Obsidian is believed to reduce the pain of arthritis, to help joint problems and to ease cramp. It is also said to aid digestion too.

The item will be placed in a small polymer bag and then onto the cushion of the gift box before closing up for packing and delivery.
