My personal encounter: I misplaced my DSLR camera in a hotel in Scotland. I went to the lost and found counter in the hotel to enquire about the lost item. When the staff asked me about the model of my camera, I couldn’t answer (I bought 6 years ago and could not recall anything at 3am in the morning). But I managed to convince the staff by telling him there was a crown sticker on the left bottom near the battery compartment and another sticker on the SD cards holder. He returned the item to me with a smile.   Thanks to the stickers, I gotten my DSLR without too much of a hassle.
