This fruit which originally came from West Africa has become the fruit of Jamaica. When cooked and combined with seasoned saltfish, pickled herring or vegetarian bacon bits, it is called the 'National Dish of Jamaica'. After cooking it has a close resemblance to scrambled egg, only much tastier and more delicate.
