Beetroot

Beetroot has been linked improved blood flood and lower blood pressure. It contains potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamins A, B6 and C, folic acid, carbohydrates, protein, antioxidants and soluble fibre. It is also a rich source of folate, manganese and betaines. Betaines have been shown to function to reduce the concentration of homocysteine, which may be harmful to blood vessels at high circulating levels thus contributing to the  development of heart disease, stroke, or peripheral vascular disease. Prelimary researches have also shown that betaine from beetroot may protect against liver disease, particularly the buildup of fatty deposits in the liver caused by alcohol abuse, protein deficiency, or diabetes, among other causes

Beetroot juice contains nitrites which help widen blood vessels. This may help lower blood pressure and thus reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases and may also help fight progression of dementia.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate has antioxidant, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. In alternative medicine, it has been used to treat diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Extract of pomegranate has been shown to fight against staph, salmonella and some kinds of strep bacteria.

Pomegranate is rich in anthocyanin and tannins such as Pomegranate ellagitannins, also called punicalagins, with free-radical scavenging properties which are absorbed into the human body and may have dietary value as antioxidants.

Pomegranate juice consumption may inhibit viral infections and its extract has antibacterial effects against dental plaque.

It has been shown in certain studies that consumption of pomegranate juice in hypertensive patients helped reduce systolic blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme. Apart from this, the juice of pomegranate may also be effective in reducing heart disease risk factors, including LDL oxidation, macrophage oxidative status, and foam cell formation.

Raspberry

Raspberries are a rich source of vitamin C, manganese, dietary fiber, B vitamins 1–3, folate, magnesium, copper, and iron.

Raspberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C, A  and E which are powerful antioxidants. Raspberries also have significantly high levels of phenolic flavonoid phytochemicals such as anthocyanins. These compounds help act as protective scavengers against oxygen-derived free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) that play a role in aging and various disease processes. They also help the body develop resistance against infectious agents, counter inflammation, and scavenge harmful free radicals. Scientific studies show that these antioxidant compounds in these berries have potential health benefits against cancer, aging, inflammation, and neuro-degenerative diseases.

Raspberries contain a good amount of minerals like potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells.

Raspberries are rich in B-complex group of vitamins and vitamin K such as vitamin B-6, niacin, riboflavin, and folic acid. These vitamins are function as co-factors and help body in the metabolism of carbohydrates, protein and fats.
