They have extra protection in the areas of the foot that have the most pressure. They are made of polyester and cotton blend material and keep your feet dry, cool and comfortable while wearing them for both working and playing. The socks feel as though they are supporting the arches of your feet as they somewhat compress in this area and therefore give increased support and stability to avoid the feet from getting tired. The socks fit snug on your feet, and keep the sock in place on your feet and they don't fall down off your ankles either. The smooth toe seams are very nice and don't leave bulky material on top or under your toes so you won't have to worry about feeling as if you have something bunched up around your toes. They come out of the laundry feeling as good as they were when new too, not all shrunk up. Right out of the package, they were soft, and easy to slide on my feet. The socks are made with 78% Cotton, 19% Polyester and, 1% Lycra. I also asked my son to try them out as well, then to let me know what his thoughts, and opinions were at the end of the week. I really liked the socks because I have an high arch. The cushion in the socks provided extra padding for my feet, weren't tight around the ankles, and were plush, and comfortable to wear.My son said he could feel the cushion in the socks as well. He also said he noticed after playing ball while wearing the socks that his feet weren't sweaty afterwards because they had a nice air flow. After the week was up, I washed the socks in cold water with no bleach, and they look like I just pulled them out of the pack, but softer. This is a very nice sock especially to teen boys going back to school, or who play sports.
