This is a finely crafted, solid brass sundialcompass in one convenient unit. This unit allows an individual to tell the exact time by taking into account all local variables a marker to account for the declination of the sun, a sundial,a compass with a magnetic needle. If properly used, it is a highly accurate timepiece, a perfect partner to the sextant for navigation. It has black enameling for easy viewingto highlight the beautifuldelicate design work. There is also a ''lock'' to hold the needle in placeprevent damage,folds for easy carrying. It measures appx. 2.5'' across the sundial. When folded it is less than an inch tall,can unfold to as much as 3''. It comes with a brass cover,a very slim leather carrying case that opens buckles shut to keep the compass safe so that the compass cannot slip out.The brass is left unfinished, so that it may acquire an antique type finish over time. If that is not wanted, it may easily be polished away.
