The covering is thicker 100% cotton material and has no plastic! The water and stain protectant is fused right in the cotton material. Love this because it does not get ruined or ripped when washed. The zippers are good quality and are holding up great. The cover does not make that plastic sound when laying on it. I have had these for almost 9 months and have washed them a lot. They are still in perfect condition. I have grandkids aged 8 months to 6 yrs. olds. My pillows go through a lot, from juice spills, spit-up, bottle leaks, sweat, vomit and more. The pillows are always dry and "protected"! The more you wash them, the softer the cover gets but the protection stays great. I've lost many pillows because of her inability to hold herself when she has to go. The mattress has a special cover, which is great, however, now I have the pillow cases which are just as quiet as not having a protective cover. These are great and would definitely suggest to anyone needing something like this. However, on the end with the zipper, the zipper stops short of the total width of the pillow cover. The zipper starts in from each side about 1 -1 1/2 ". So, the opening is not the width of the pillow cover. It is tight or impossible to get the pillow cover on. The zippers of both pillow covers broke and my pillows never went in. I mail ordered which took a longer time, I ended up with useless merchandise, have to return it and now have to find something else. Frustrating and a waste of my time.Wa
