Questions
I have a problem digesting dairy, wheat, and soy. The label says this product is Gluten-free, yet it contains (minuscule) amounts of dairy, wheat, and soy. Is this the right product for me?
Yes, if you have food intolerance toward dairy, wheat or soy--that means, you have difficulty digesting these foods because of lack of certain enzymes--this product was made for you. It has specific enzymes that effectively break down dairy, wheat, and soy. The fact that there may be some (infinitely) small amounts of dairy, wheat and soy in this product does not lower at all the effectiveness of this outstanding formulation at helping you digest dairy, wheat, and soy. To the contrary, it is a proof that the (widely used and established) biotechnological method used for the production of these enzymes was followed correctly!
Vegetarian-based enzymes may naturally contain infinitesimal amounts of dairy, wheat and soy because these food items are necessary as substrates for the production of the enzymes at the beginning of the industry-standard fermentation process. These substrates are so meticulously removed at the end, that if they exist at all, they exist only at infinitely small amounts (at the molecule level). For example, the amount of gluten (in wheat) is far smaller than 20 ppm (parts per million). That's less than 0.00002 grams per capsule! According to FDA that means Gluten-free. This small amount of gluten is totally safe for a person that has food intolerance of a digestive nature.
However, if you are not just intolerant but extremely sensitive (allergic) to dairy wheat or soy--that means, your immune system reacts to these foods--then you should consult your medical specialist before using this dietary supplement or any other that contains traces of potential food allergens.
Many people confuse the terms "food intolerance" and "food allergy". If you have a food intolerance, you can eat small amounts of the ofng food without trouble. Unlike an intolerance to food, a food allergy can cause a serious or even life-threatening reaction by eating a microscopic amount, touching or inhaling the food. It is for THIS reason that we have posted our allergy warning. All plant-based digestive enzyme supplements should have this warning.
