They have held up well to repeat washes, the zippers on the pillow shams included. The sets are reversible so you can switch it to the black with taupe side for a change and also flip the pillows for contrast ( all the matching toss pillows are also reversible). I paired these with black sailcloth tabtop curtains and it gave my 12 yr old twins a cute, more "grown up" looking room and didn't cost a fortune. After almost 2 years, I am just now shopping for replacement bedding as these are just now looking a bit dingy. I have washed it and no issues. The colour is as appears in the picture. The only issue i have is, the flat sheet set is extremely thin, it is for my guess room some does not get a lot of usage. this sheet for the price i believe is a great bargain. The sheets are very comfortable. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that I wish the comforter was wider. It is only 62" wide and I wish it was 66". When I make the bed and align it with the top of the bed skirt on one side it lacks a full 2"s, or more on the other side of the bed. I have a twin bed and it still looks great though.
