The Baader Planetarium 2" Herschel Wedge offers a great white light solar observing experience. The Baader Herschel Wedge provides views that are superior to traditional white light filters because of its full aperture view.

Attaching to the back of your telescope the Herschel Wedge provides a full aperture observing experience with virtually zero image degradation. The beauty of this type of solar observation is that by using a Herschel Wedge the filter is not selectively filtering out visual wavelengths. The end result is a beautiful white light view of the sun.

The Baader Herschel wedge is considered by many to be the finest on the market. This wedge uses a 2" Zeiss ultra smooth prism which maximizes contrast and sharpness. Baader incorporates many proprietary elements within their wedge one of which is a specially enhanced optical design for stray light elimination.

Note: The Baader Herschel Wedge was only designed for use with refractor telescopes.

The Herschel Wedge is only recommended for use with refracting telescopes, NOT Schmidt-Cassegrain, Maksutov, or any other Reflecting Telescopes. This is a professional-quality white light (not H-Alpha) solar filtration system, whose basic design concept has existed for almost as long as the telescope itself. Like glass or mylar film objective solar filters, it is completely safe if used properly and common sense precautions always observed.
